Sustainability and Environmental Responsibility

Being a producer means having responsibilities and also taking care of the environment in which we operate.

We must act now by making conscious choices: reducing waste, optimizing the use of materials and packaging, using energy from renewable sources, lowering emissions, and accelerating digitalization.

Thinking in terms of environmental sustainability is everyone's responsibility, especially that of businesses.

For many years, Kong has embraced a responsible approach to its operations and has achieved UNI EN ISO 14001:2015 certification at all of its facilities in Monte Marenzo (LC), Italy.

With continuous improvement at the core of our environmental policy, below are some of the key initiatives already implemented across our operations:

We cover 19%* of our electricity demand through self-consumption from a 1,500 m² photovoltaic system, generating approximately 200 MWh of electricity per year*

We source 79%* of the total value of our purchases from Italian suppliers.

We send 66% of our total waste for recovery.

Thanks to a dedicated filtration system that recycles wastewater from our surface treatment departments, we have reduced our overall water withdrawal by 43% compared with the year prior to its installation.

We prioritize packaging made from recyclable materials such as paper, cardboard, and wood.

We promote reuse through bags designed to last over time.

We redesigned our helmet packaging, reducing its volume by half, thereby cutting inbound logistics volumes and optimizing space in outbound shipments to customers.

We use paper-based packaging tape as another step toward the gradual reduction of single-use plastics.

We print user manuals on demand, reducing unnecessary stock and obsolescence.

We have digitized our catalogs, making them accessible online via QR Codes and NFC chips, reducing the use of printed materials.

We provide water dispensers throughout the company and reusable water bottles for our employees.

We have introduced the new ECOnnector finish, eliminating the need for traditional chemical pickling and anodizing processes.

We have installed two electric vehicle charging stations at our headquarters.

We optimize cardboard waste volumes through on-site compactors.

Our commitment is reflected in concrete actions, but sustainability is a shared goal. We encourage you to extend the life cycle of our products through proper maintenance and to dispose of packaging and components responsibly, in accordance with applicable waste management regulations.
