ORTIS is a self-locking descender device, manually run by one operator, used for evacuation from cable lift and high work places.

ORTIS é un dispositivo di discesa autobloccante a comando manuale, per evacuazione da impianti a fune e luoghi industriali in altezza.

Instructions

Open the mobile side plate by a 180° clockwise rotation. Lift the rope-divider and keep open by a hand the jamming cam. (see picture n.1)

Impiego

Aprire la guancia mobile, ruotandola di 180° in senso orario. Alzare il separa-corde e tenere aperto con una mano il dente di bloccaggio. (vedi figura 1)

Insert a Lanex static rope diameter 11 mm  into the ORTIS. Rope must be located over the drum against the fixed side-plate, with the abseil loop opposite to jamming cam. (see picture n.2)

Inserire una corda statica Lanex Ø 11 nell’ORTIS, posizionandola sulla puleggia contro la guancia fissa, con l’asola per la calata dalla parte opposta al dente di bloccaggio. (vedi figura 2)

Lower the rope-divider, inserting it into the groove of the drum. (see picture n.3)

Abbassare il separa-corde inserendolo nella sede della puleggia. (vedi figura 3)

Insert a second turn of the rope on the drum, moving the loose part of the rope anticlockwise. (see picture n.4)

Inserire il secondo giro di corda (quella lasca) sulla puleggia  in senso antiorario. (vedi figura 4)

Close the mobile side-plate by a 180° rotation anticlockwise. Check the correct insertion of the locking hook onto the protruding pin. Close the jamming cam, insert the rope into the pig-tail lever, winding it anticlockwise. (see picture n.5)

Chiudere la guancia mobile ruotandola in senso antiorario di 180°. Verificare che il dente di aggancio sia agganciato perfettamente al perno. Chiudere il dente di bloccaggio. Inserire la corda nella leva a spirale, avvolgendo in senso antiorario (vedi figura 5)

Clip Ortis into the anchoring point. Check that the safety gate is closed.

Agganciare ORTIS al punto d'ancoraggio. Controllare che il dito di sicura sia chiuso.  

For abseiling, by one hand slowly lift, towards the operator, the rope inserted into the pig-tail lever. So doing you free the jamming cam. Lower slowly and regularly, breaking the rope sliding, by the hand. To block the abseil, simply let the rope.

This actuates the jamming cam.

Per la calata, con una mano alzare lentamente verso l’operatore la corda inserita nella leva a spirale, liberando così il dente di bloccaggio. Calare con regolarità, frenando lo scorrimento della corda con la mano. Per bloccare la discesa, basta lasciare la corda.

Così facendo il dente blocca.

For a safe abseil always wear gloves.

The special ball bearing that rotates in one direction only, allows to operate in safety.
ORTIS is also a user-friendly self rescue descender.
Last but not least, it may be used for belaying the second on the rope in indoor climbing gym.

Lo speciale cuscinetto a sfera unidirezionale garantisce calate sicure e un facile recupero in sicurezza.
ORTIS è usato anche come discensore personale.
Inoltre é particolarmente consigliato come assicuratore del secondo in palestre indoor di arrampicata.

Warning

ORTIS is certified CE EN 341 class A with a static rope Lanex Ø 11mm

In emergency it may work also with static and/or dynamic ropes of 10-13 mm diameter, but in this case it does not comply to the certification.
